Communicating with Parents

There are a number of systems in place to support effective communication between the school and parents.

Parents can receive information from us by text, email and voicemail through the SIMS InTouch system and also have access to the SIMS Parent App for information about their son or daughter's attendance and progress. Further information about these systems can be found on the pages in this section.

Student Planners

Students in years 7 are issued with a Student Planner at the start of the academic year. The planner fulfils a number of functions. It contains a great deal of useful information about school routines and expectations, together with a diary and key dates. Students use the planner to record the homework they have been set, parents' evening appointments, and other important information. Comments about student achievements and behaviour are recorded in the ClassCharts system. Students in other year groups have a digital version of the information in the planners, but use other methods to record homework, for example their own diairies or task management apps on their iPad.

Contacting the school

There are two main primary points of contact between parents and the school. Each student's Form Tutor plays a key role in their academic and personal development, and should be the first point of contact for concerns.  Please bear in mind that form tutors have significant teaching commitments and are unlikely to be available during the school day. However, messages for them can be left by contacting Reception on 01753 598300 or by sending an email to school@lgs.slough.sch.uk marked for their attention. They will contact you as soon as they are able.

Routine communication regarding absences, medical issues or particular difficulties should be directed through the Student Support office where the Student Support Manager and the Student Support Officer are available throughout the school day. To contact Student Support you should ring the main school number 01753 598300 and choose the relevant option as directed in the message.
