LGS students celebrate achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Awards

At the end of term, just before we broke up for Christmas we had a “Celebration Event” where we were able to celebrate the amazing achievements of our young people whom had achieved an award for DofE.

It was great to be able to publically recognise and acknowledge our DofE Award holders. The DofE Award at school has grown from strength to strength, we currently run all three sections, Bronze in Year 10, and Silver and Gold in the Sixth Form. We were very pleased to see so many students receive an award (62 at Bronze, 6 at Silver and 3 at Gold level). We were also grateful that so many parents were able to come along and support the event.

We were delighted that our Operations Officer, Liz Pate from DofE Head Office was in attendance. She congratulated our students and spoke about the benefits of holding a DofE Award. The DofE Award remains the world's leading youth achievement award and something that a large proportion of employers look for on a curriculum vitae as part of the recruitment process.

Many congratulations to all of the students receiving their awards. Thanks also to the team of staff who give up so much time to support our young people.
