LGS Year 11 students' GCSE success

Our Year 11 students have been receiving the GCSE results today.....

As expected, there has been statistical manipulation of the GCSE results at national level to try and bring the overall profile down to somewhere between the 2021 grades, which were based on teacher assessments, and the last set of actual exam results in 2019.

We are absolutely delighted that LGS Year 11 students’ results are actually significantly better than those previous years.

Students were entered for just over 1850 qualifications. The key indicators are:

  • 45.1% Grade 9s
  • 68.6% Grades 9/8
  • 84.7% Grades 9-7
  • 99.2% Grades 9-5 overall

These are excellent outcomes which allow the vast majority of students to access the Sixth Form courses of their choice. We look forward to welcoming most of our students back to the LGS Sixth Form in September.

John Constable, Headteacher, commented.....

“As we all know, the last two years have been hugely disruptive to students across the country, and individual students have been affected by the pandemic in many different ways.  We are delighted and encouraged by these GCSE outcomes, which show that our students and staff have worked hard to compensate for all the difficulties.  Congratulations to all our Year 11 students on their achievements, and we know these results will give them real confidence as they move on to Sixth Form studies.”
