Teacher of English

Main Scale, London Fringe

Full-time or Part-time (0.6-0.8FTE)

 Required September 2024

We have an excellent opportunity for a well-motivated and skilled Teacher of English to work within a highly successful and forward-looking English department in our outstanding selective school.  We can offer an exceptional working environment where staff, as well as students, thrive. The successful candidate will be expected to teach English across Years 7 – 11. We offer both English Literature and English Language at A Level, and therefore experience of A Level teaching, or the clear potential to teach A Level to high-attaining students is advantageous. Applications from ECTs or more experienced teachers with an appropriate academic background are welcome. We are looking to make a permanent appointment and due to flexibility in our current staffing, we can offer the post as a full-time appointment or a part-time role for applicants interested in working 3-4 days a week.

Langley Grammar School is a co-educational 11-18 selective school with academy status, located within easy reach of Langley station and the M4.  We have approximately 1280 students, over 370 of whom are in the Sixth Form.  The school is heavily over-subscribed and draws students from a wide geographical area and range of backgrounds. Alongside promoting excellent academic outcomes, our school ethos supports students to become confident and well-rounded, independent and creative, responsible and caring. Our students are capable, hardworking, and a delight to teach.  We are a National Teaching School with a record of nationally recognised innovative practice and an Apple Distinguished School in recognition of our leading-edge use of technology for learning. In recent years major building programmes have included the construction of excellent sports facilities, a distinctive Sixth Form Centre, and new classrooms, workshops, laboratories, ICT suites, and communal areas. The school was last inspected in 2021 by Ofsted and was graded outstanding in all categories.

Information packs and application forms are available on request from the school or can be downloaded from the school website at www.lgs.slough.sch.uk.
