7 Globe Theatre Trip

On Wednesday 18th April, Year 7 students of Langley Grammar School were taken to see a performance of Shakespeare's,  'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the famous Globe Theatre in London.

This article was written by Avneet Jaswal in Year 7.

The trip involved a journey to the Globe Theatre, where we took part in a drama workshop, watched rehearsals for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, were shown a stunning exhibition and enjoyed a visit to the gift shop. The point of the visit was to help us with our current work on Shakespeare in our English lessons, so we could improve our understanding of him and his plays, as well as being a fun day out.

We learnt a lot about the language in Shakespeare’s plays, which has proven to be very helpful in our studies. Also, we found out about Shakespearean stagecraft, learning how plays were acted in the Elizabethan era. There was much to enjoy. For some of us the highlight of the day was watching the rehearsals in the theatre. For others the favourite part was the drama workshop.  All in all, this was a very successful trip. On behalf of the students I'd like to thank the wonderful staff in the English department who came with us.
