LGS students achieve more top A Level grades
Langley Grammar students have once again achieved excellent A Level results. Across the country as the proportion of A and A* grades awarded fell to their lowest level since 2007, the students at Langley Grammar bucked the national trend and managed to achieve a higher proportion of the top grades than last year, maintaining the school's high standards and the reputation of its excellent Sixth Form.
A total of 153 students sat over 460 A Level examinations between them. Over 35% of exams taken resulted in grades A* or A and 66% of entries achieved grades A*-B, while the school's overall pass rate rose to 99.4% Twenty-six students (nearly a fifth of the year group) gained A* or A grades across all their subjects.
These excellent results have enabled the great majority of students to take up their preferred university places or to pursue other paths such as higher level apprenticeships.
Headteacher John Constable commented:
“We are very pleased with the outcomes for our students, which reflect their hard work and commitment, and the dedication of our staff to supporting them. Once again our students have risen to the challenge and we are very proud of them. I would like to congratulate each and every student on their achievements and wish them well as these results unlock the next step for them.”
Examination results tell a significant part of the story, but over their time in the Sixth Form our students have achieved more than simply a good set of grades. Alongside their A Level subjects they have taken part in a wider range of additional activities and experiences and have given back to the school and local community. We have supported them to be much more than a 'walking set of exam certificates' and to leave the school as young men and women who are confident and well-rounded, independent and creative, responsible and caring.
