11+ admissions process - September 2021 admission
Year 7 entry
As an academy Langley Grammar School operates as its own admissions authority and collaborates in a 11+ testing consortium with Herschel, St Bernard’s Catholic and Upton Court Grammar Schools for entry to Year 7.
Admission to any of the four grammar schools in Slough is based on reaching an eligibility score in the consortium 11+ examination. Any child reaching a score of 111 on a standardised scale (this score represents approximately the top third of the 11+ examination outcome range) is deemed potentially suitable for a grammar school place and is eligible for consideration for admission. However, each of the four schools have different criteria for admission in the event
Details of the timetable for entry to Year 7 in September 2021 can be found in the Key Dates 2021 entry document below. The Slough Consortium guide to the 11+ examination, frequently asked questions document and extended familiarisation materials provided by CEM can be accessed from the links on this page. A document which details how places were allocated for admission to year 7 in September 2020 can be found at the end of this this page.
We are unable to offer any open events this term due to the ongoing government restrictions. Instead we have set up a 'virtual open event' page here.
11+ examination arrangements
A presentation setting out the process for the 11+ examination can be found on YouTube at https://youtu.be/FOEe1IG0Ky0. This presentation replaces the Information Evenings which were due to be held in late April/early May.
The admission test for entry into Year 7 in September 2021 for applicants sitting the tests at any of the four Slough grammar schools was originally scheduled for Saturday 12 September, for candidates who were registered before the closing date, 12 midnight on Sunday 14 June 2020.
The Regional Schools Commissioner approved a variation to the school's admissions arrangements, and those of the other Slough grammar schools, to delay the test in line with the Department for Education's guidance published in July 2020.
Testing for schools in the Slough Consortium of Grammar schools took place in week beginning Monday 12 October 2020.
The admissions code states that schools have to take ‘all reasonable steps’ for parents to receive the results before completing the Common Application Form (CAF). We are sure you will all agree that this year is exceptional. By delaying the test until October, you should be aware that you will not get the results of the entrance test until after the deadline for CAF completion. You will therefore need to make your choices very carefully; if you wish your child to be considered for entry to any of the four Slough grammar schools should he or she be considered eligible on the basis of the standardised score, you will need to name the relevant school or schools on the CAF.
The deadline for timely appeals was Sunday 28th March 2021.

In line with the Department for Education guidance (published July 2020) to delay selection tests because of the impact of coronavirus, the Regional Schools Commissioner approved an amendment to these arrangements to state that:
The Slough 11+ selection test for entry to Year 7 in September 2021 was held over a number of successive days in the week commencing Monday 12th October 2020.
