The 16–19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome financial barriers to participating fully in their education.

There are two types of bursary available:

Bursary for defined vulnerable groups
For students in specific circumstances defined by the Department for Education, such as being in care, a care leaver, or receiving certain benefits in their own right.

Discretionary bursary
For students experiencing financial barriers to education, based on household circumstances and the actual costs for which they need support. At Langley Grammar School, the normal financial eligibility criteria are a gross annual household income of £27,500 or less and/or the student or a sibling qualifying for Free School Meals. Exceptional financial hardship or a significant change in circumstances may also be considered.

Support may be available towards costs such as travel, food while attending school, educational visits, curriculum access devices and IT, books and course materials, essential equipment and other education-related costs.

Bursary awards are based on each student's individual circumstances and actual financial need. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee an award, and the school may not always be able to meet a request in full.

Applications for 2026–27 should be submitted by 2 October 2026. Applications received by this date will be considered together so that available funding can be distributed fairly. Applications can still be made later in the year where circumstances change, or unexpected financial hardship arises.
