We are offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled Teacher of Science to join a highly successful Science department in our outstanding selective school. Due to flexibility within our staffing, we are pleased to offer this vacancy to candidates specialising in either Biology or Chemistry.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach general Science in Years 7 and 8, together with Biology or Chemistry to GCSE, according to their subject specialism. Colleagues in the Science department occasionally teach more than one science subject; therefore, the ability to teach a second science subject to GCSE level would be advantageous. The sciences are a popular choice at Sixth Form level, and therefore the ability to teach either Biology or Chemistry to A Level is also essential. We can offer an exceptional working environment in which both staff and students flourish.

Langley Grammar School is a co-educational 11–18 selective academy located within easy reach of Langley station and the M4. We have approximately 1,240 students on roll, including over 370 in the Sixth Form. The school is heavily oversubscribed and attracts students from a wide geographical area and a diverse range of backgrounds. Alongside promoting excellent academic outcomes, our ethos encourages students to become confident, well-rounded, independent, creative, responsible, and caring individuals. Our students are capable, hardworking, and a pleasure to teach. We are a National Teaching School with a strong record of nationally recognised innovative practice and an Apple Distinguished School in recognition of our leading-edge use of technology to support learning. In recent years, major building developments have included excellent sports facilities, a distinctive Sixth Form Centre, and new classrooms, workshops, laboratories, ICT suites, and communal areas. The school was last inspected by Ofsted in 2021 and was judged to be outstanding in all categories.

Information packs and application forms are available on request from the school or can be downloaded from the school website at www.lgs.slough.sch.uk.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applications should be returned by midday on Tuesday 19 May 2026 to Mrs De Cheyne, Head’s PA, at vacancies@lgs.slough.sch.uk. Interviews will be held shortly afterwards. We reserve the right to interview suitable candidates before the closing date.
