Governor vacancies
Parent Governor vacancies - Spring 2026
We would like to invite you to stand for election as a parent governor, or to support another parent to do so. We currently have two vacancies which we are seeking to fill.
The Governing Board, with the headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school, with three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the leadership team to account for the educational performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of staff;
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
No particular qualifications are needed to be a governor; the most important thing is to have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the Governing Board’s work. Previous governance experience is not as important as enthusiasm and a commitment to contribute. Much of the contribution that governors make is through attending board meetings and committee meetings, which take place regularly through the year and are normally scheduled for the early evening.
If you are seriously considering standing you are asked to attend a short online meeting. This is to help you to understand the role of the governing board and provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions. This meeting will be held via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 11th February at 6pm. Please confirm your attendance at this meeting by emailing Sue Littman, Clerk to the Governors, at suelittman@lgs.slough.sch.uk by Friday 30th January in order that joining instructions can be sent to you in good time.
Following the meeting, if you would like to stand for election please complete the nomination form, which can below. The form should be returned by email to Mrs Sue Littman, Clerk to Governors at suelittman@lgs.slough.sch.uk no later than Monday 23rd February. On the form you must confirm that you have attended the online meeting scheduled for 11th February. Applications from nominees who have not attended this meeting will not be accepted. When you return your nomination form, you must also include a short personal statement, no longer than 150 words, to support your nomination. Your nomination must be endorsed by someone with a close connection to the school, preferably another parent.
