Year 13 English Literature and Drama students recently enjoyed an inspiring Educational Visit to Canterbury, combining literary history with live theatre. The day began with a walking tour of the historic city, where students explored the rich literary heritage of Canterbury and reflected on its connections to Geoffrey Chaucer, whose Canterbury Tales famously brought the city to life in medieval literature. Seeing the setting that inspired Chaucer's pilgrims helped students to imagine the cultural and historical context behind one of the most influential works in English Literature. In the afternoon, students attended a powerful Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet. This reimagined performance was set in 1912, offering a fresh interpretation of Shakespeare's tragedy while maintaining the intensity and complexity of the original play. The Edwardian setting provided a fascinating lens through which to view the political tensions, family conflict and psychological turmoil at the heart of the drama. The trip gave students the opportunity to connect their classroom learning with real-world literary history and professional theatre

Last week we welcomed a large group of educational professionals from Belgium and the Netherlands and other European countries who visited the school to learn about our use of technologyparticularly iPadsto enhance teaching and learning, and how we blend the use of technology alongside other approaches that we also value. As always, our student Digital Leaders represented the school superbly and a number of the visitors commented to me how personable and confident they came across. #lgsconfident
