    Website Accessibility Statement

This website is run by Langley Grammar School. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

    • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings

    • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen

    • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software

    • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

    Accessibility Features

    • Responsive Design: Our website is designed to work on various devices and screen sizes, including desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones.

    • Keyboard Navigation: The website is navigable via keyboard to accommodate users who cannot use a mouse.

    • Text Readability: We use clear and legible fonts, sufficient colour contrast, and adjustable text size to enhance readability.

    [Delete as appropriate]

    • Form auto complete: adding validation to forms enables our forms to be autocompleted

    • Parents evening: Our parents' evening platform is fully keyboard-navigable, screen reader compatible, and designed to meet visual accessibility standards, ensuring compliance with colour contrast and text readability guidelines.

[The above are examples only. Please use the checklist provided to set out how your website will be accessible with reference to the guidelines under the WCAG 2.2 guidelines.]

    Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

    School exemption

    • primary and secondary schools or nurseries - except for the content people need in order to use their services, for example a form that lets you outline school meal preferences.

    Non-compliant content

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

    • most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software

    • embedded Google Maps are not accessible within the site

    • any forms with bespoke styling on the site may not be accessible

    • images that portray life at the school do not have alternative text.

[Please add other items that you are choosing to not be compliant and remove anything that does not apply.]

    • Images that contain information required by the user: We endeavour to ensure that, where needed, we include alternative text for any images. If any images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.

    • Video: Any use of video will not add content to the website that is not explained through written material. If it is necessary to access video content, we will ensure that appropriate steps are taken to provide alternative commentary or in-screen captions. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.

    • Links: We endeavour to ensure that, where needed, we include appropriate use of links and ensure that links are descriptive. If any links are not descriptive, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.

    • Tables: We endeavour to ensure that, where needed, tables have the appropriate headings set. If any tables do not have defined headings, so people using a screen reader or keyboard navigation cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.

    • Brand colours: We endeavour to ensure that, although our brand colours may not always meet the contrast ratio for the corresponding text size, the meaning of the text will not be affected by this we will not use colour if it does. If the meaning of any text does not meet the contrast ration, so people with visual impairments cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.

[Please refer to the checklist provided in order to set out where the website will fail to be completely compliant with WCAG 2.2.]

    Ongoing Efforts

We are continually working to improve the accessibility of our website by:

    • Screen reader compatibility: whilst our website has been built to include functionality that works with screen readers, we may need to make some improvements by working with our website provider.

    [Delete as appropriate:]

    • Regular audits and user testing: We commit to routine audits and user testing.

    • User feedback: We will incorporate feedback from users to enhance accessibility.

    • Keeping up-to-date: We will endeavour to keep up to date with evolving accessibility standards and best practices.
