Our GCSE classics students recently returned from their residential visit to the historic site of Pompeii in southern Italy, famous for being buried in ash following the devastating eruption of Mt Vesuvius in AD79.
On the 20th March, students from Langley Grammar, St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar school and Upton Court Grammar school formed the Slough Youth Orchestra and performed at the Curve arts venue in Slough.
A group of Year 9 students took part in the regional round of the PiXL 'Up for Debate' programme.
Students in Year 7 finally had the chance to race their rocket cars with the help of members of the Royal Air Force. The students had previously designed and made their cars on their joint science, computing and design technology focus day in the Autumn Term.
On Tuesday 20th March, GCSE Art students paid a visit to the London Aquarium and the Natural History Museum to get some inspiration for their work back at school.
Our Year 8 Geography students recently travelled to the Queen Elizabeth Park in east London to learn more about the different approaches to managing river flooding along the River Lea and River Thames.
From 7th to 9th March, Year 7 visited Kingswood Activity Centre in Ashford, Kent to learn the values of teamwork, communication and to make new friends!
Thursday 8th March was our whole school Focus Day. Year 9 engaged in a STEM activity, combining skills from Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in solving a real-world problem: how to make our planned new school building energy efficient.
On Thursday 8th March, a Theatre Company known as Drama Impact came to the school to perform, ‘An Inspector Calls’ and, ‘A Christmas Carol’, as well run workshops with us. This was primarily to help us gain an understanding of the pieces for our English GCSEs, but throughout the day we were able to learn a range of skills in Drama too.
