Our Year 12 biology students visited Slapton, Devon to study the local ecology. Ecology is a diverse and complex field, one that touches on a variety of biological concepts. The visit gave an opportunity for students to see how ecological concepts applied in the real world as well as eliciting a stronger sense of interest amongst the class. Thames Valley Athletics Centre was once again the home of Langley Grammar School's sports day. The PE department, as always, run a great event that was fun for all. Avneet Dhandee and Gurdeep Sukham, the Year 12 Games Captains explain more below.
In June year 7 pupils visited the wonderful Warwick Castle, organised by the history department. They learnt how the castle has changed over time, and found out more about the weaponry and armour that was used throughout the Middle Ages. I think everybody thoroughly enjoyed the trip and it was a great opportunity to have an insight into Medieval life and warfare. Ahmed El Akehal in 7H descibes more below.
On Wednesday 7th June, students in Year 7 enjoyed a music workshop from the company “Bang On”. We didn’t think that so many different sounds could be made out of recycled material such as plastic bottles and metallic pans! Sneha and Janna in 7H explain more below.
On Monday 5th June, 40 students and 4 teachers gathered together early morning to embark on a fabulous journey to Rhineland, one of the most attractive areas of Germany. The visit was designed to enhance our German language skills while exposing us to the local culture through visits to places of interest. Amolika Bansal in 8K explains more below.

On the 24th May 2017, 30 students and 3 teachers from Langley Grammar assembled early at Heathrow Airport ready to embark on an unforgettable trip to Berlin. Yash Gupta (10S) explains more below.
On the 7th of May, a group of year 10 students set off for the start of their practice expedition for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award. It was not only to be a fun and new adventure for us to embark upon, but also a test of both our physical and mental endurance. The following account was written by Karishma Khosla 10S:
From the early morning of Friday 19th May to Sunday 21st May, the Year 10s visited Slapton in Devon to carry out their geography field work. Hira and Vernujaa describe more below.
On the 22nd March, we headed to Brecon Beacons in South Wales for our silver DofE final expedition. The journey there was pretty comfortable but the challenge started when we got there at 8:30pm. It was so dark that putting up our tents and getting ourselves warm was very hard. The temperature dropped during the night making it almost impossible to fall asleep. On Tuesday 28 March, 14 LGS students in Year 12 embarked on their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Practice Expedition in Wales. It was to be a challenge of both physical and mental endurance and a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
