On the Friday 25 January the students of Year 12 were given the opportunity to meet professionals from a wide variety of careers, some of which were highly specialised and unique, and others which gave us a broader view of a certain sectors.
Recently 25 of our year 8 girls formed teams and entered the 2019 Cyberfirst competition run by GCHQ, the UK intelligence service. Mr Oakley who organised this for LGS students explains more below.
On Wednesday 16th January the students in year 11 got a taste of life in the Sixth Form, sampling different A Level subjects and finding out about the wide range of opportunities the Sixth Form provides.
On Tuesday 18th December, the Year 10 business studies class set up to run a market stall. They were given two lessons to come up with an idea of a product that they could sell on the market. The product had to be both original and appropriately priced.
Year 11 Business pupils have been creative this term deciding on how to market cereal. They were given a packet of cereal, in a blank plastic bag and then told that they had to market it!
Four students from Langley Grammar achieved second place in the Berkshire Regional Heat of the Kids’ Literature Quiz hosted by famous quizmaster Wayne Mills.
Students in year 9 recently visited the RAF Museum in Duxford as part of our whole-school Focus Day.
On Monday 26th November, the Year 13 Economics cohort had the opportunity to attend a day’s conference at Friends House, Bloomsbury. Some of the topics discussed involved UK productivity, the nationalisation of the NHS and the impact of Brexit on the UK economy.
On Friday 23rd November the Year 13s headed off to Westminster for a series of chemistry lectures by scientists in a number of fields.
On Wednesday 14 November the Year 7’s had their first focus day. The theme for this year was Harry Potter. Catherine in 7S explains more below.
On Wednesday 14 November, half of Year 9 visited East London as part of our ‘London’ topic in Geography. We’ve been studying the different aspects of London and what makes London, London. I think that this trip really helped us understand things even further.
On the 14th November the Year 13 students of Langley Grammar School provided people from the elderly communities of Langley and Chippenham a blast from the past by organising a 1950’s themed Afternoon Tea during the school's Focus Day.
