Cut Films Project Success

On Thursday 17 May I had the great pleasure of attending the Gold award presentation ceremony of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award that took place in the gardens at Buckingham Palace.
On Monday 2nd July 2018, ‘Bang On!’ a percussion duo, came to Langley Grammar School to perform and to teach us how recycling materials can be used to make music.
On Friday 6th July, the Year 9 Girls set out on a gruelling 20-minutes’ walk in the blistering sun to the offices of CA Technologies, Ditton Park to take part in a morning of STEM related problem solving activities.
On Monday 2 July 2018, 6 year 12 students were lucky enough to participate in the ICMA Stock Market Challenge at Henley Business School, Reading University. This was the first year our school entered the competition so we had no prior insight as to how things would go - but we ended up as the second best team overall!
On the 26th June, year 10 students that are working towards their Sports Leaders qualification went to Ryvers Primary School to deliver a session on a sport to the pupils there.
On Wednesday 20th June, 40 students left to visit Cologne, Germany. They had a great time visiting Cologne, Boppard, Marksburg Castle, Phantasialand and many other amazing places, and vastly improved their German language skills and understanding of the German culture.
On Tuesday 19th June 2018, the whole of year 9 were engaged in 'Future Gold', an activity focused on business and enterprise, as part of our whole school Focus Day.
On Wednesday 27th June 2018, students from Langley Grammar School took part in the Summer Variety Show. There were a range of solo and group performances and everyone had a great time.
The year 12s biologists recently returned from a residential visit to the Field Studies Councils' centre in Slapton, Devon. It was a great trip for the students, both educational and enjoyable.
On Wednesday 21st April, we were fortunate enough to travel to Oswiecim in Poland in order to visit Auschwitz, the Nazi concentration camp where we learned more about the Holocaust. We were given this task in the hope that we would be able to teach our peers more about the horrible events that transpired during the Second World War and the lesson that we will learn from it.
