    GCSE

    Students studying the subject at GCSE follow the AQA specification, and follow either the Fine Art or the Photography pathway.  

    During the course the following topics are covered

    Year 10 Year 11

    Fine Art Pathway

    Detail – Foundation course of art skills

    Portraiture – developing independence

    Sense of Place – Personal investigation of the theme

    Photography Pathway

    Camera and composition foundation skills

    Portraiture – developing more independence

    Detail – Personal investigation of the theme

    Fine Art Pathway

    Externally set assignment – 7 topics set by the exam board to choose from. Students select 1 and develop this in a personal direction to a final outcome completed in a controlled test (10 hrs)

    Photography Pathway

    Detail project continued

    A Level

    Students studying the subject at AS Level follow the OCR specification. A Level students follow the Edexcel specification.

    During the course the following topics are covered

    Year 12 Year 13

    Environment – foundation course of techniques – leading to personal investigation of a personal theme. AS students will continue this project through year 12.

    Street Art – techniques, artists and ideas – working at scale on a street art inspired piece.

    Personal investigation – Project of students own choosing developed in depth to a final outcome/s.

    Personal investigation – Project of students own choosing developed in depth to a final outcome/s.

    External Set Assignment – Broad theme set by the exam board, students respond to this in independent and personal ways, resulting in a final outcome in a controlled test (15hrs)
