Students at Langley Grammar School enter the school with above average levels of prior attainment. Nevertheless, our school community includes and welcomes students with specific special educational needs or disabilities.
Our Individual Needs provision supports students referred to in the SEND Code of Practice and also those for whom language barriers may hinder their progress and achievement. We also aim to support any other students who are identified as requiring additional short or long term help to access the curriculum or to achieve the outcomes of which they are capable.

Where appropriate, we are able to offer students with support from our Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA). ELSAs are specially trained teaching assistants who support students' emotional well-being. With extensive experience working with young people, ELSAs provide a warm and nurturing presence, helping students feel happy in school and reach their full potential. Their role is to foster emotional development and equip students with the skills to manage life’s challenges.
ELSAs undergo a recognised training programme designed for teaching assistants and other school staff in specialist roles. They receive regular training and supervision from Educational Psychologists to ensure they provide the best possible support.
